Celebrating female friendship deserves an elegant setting, and Fleur de Thé, St. Louis’ newest tearoom, proved to be the perfect place to gather with friends for a delightful Galentine’s Day afternoon tea. With its warm hospitality, exquisite tea selections, and beautifully prepared traditional fare, our visit was nothing short of magical.

An Afternoon of Elegance: The Windsor English Afternoon Tea
For my first visit, I chose the Windsor English Afternoon Tea, a classic experience that delighted both the eyes and the palate. Our tea service began with beautifully arranged finger sandwiches, including the traditional salmon and cucumber (crusts neatly removed, of course) and the uniquely British Coronation Chicken. Created for Queen Elizabeth II‘s 1953 coronation, this dish combines cold, boneless chicken with a creamy, spiced sauce flavored with cumin, turmeric, and yellow curry. It was rich, flavorful, and an unexpected highlight of the meal.
Next came the scones, served with clotted cream and jam. As a devotee of the Cornish tradition, I prefer to spread my jam first, but I never judge my Devonian friends who go the other way around! However you choose to enjoy them, the scones were freshly baked and perfectly crumbly, complemented beautifully by the accompanying tea selection.
The top tier of our afternoon tea stand featured an array of sweets: a velvety chocolate mousse, a delicate square of cake, and a tiny, crisp biscuit. Each bite was a delightful finish to an already indulgent meal.

What they have created is a refuge of respite from the busyness and distractions of life; a place to sit down and break bread—or pour tea—with loved ones and grace them with your full attention.
A World of Tea Experiences
While most of us opted for the Windsor English Afternoon Tea, one friend selected the Capetown South African High Tea, which features bolder flavors and an intriguing chili-oil-infused mousse au chocolate. The balance of spice and sweetness was both exciting and refined.
Looking ahead to our next visit, I am eager to try the Versailles French High Tea, which boasts elegant canapés, patisserie, and rich gateaux, as well as the Udaipur Indian High Tea, a fantastic vegetarian high tea option featuring fragrant spices, scones, traditional sweets, and a chai-infused chia seed pudding.
